Medical, administrative and nursing leadership working together for patients, families and staff.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. John Boateng
With more than 40 years in medicine, Dr. John Boateng brings experience from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Tafo Government Hospital to Atasemanso, which he founded in 2000. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer, he combines general medical practice with leadership of the hospital, carrying forward a commitment to personal attention, compassionate care and respect for patients’ beliefs.
Behind Atasemanso Hospital’s growth is a partnership built on love, sacrifice and a shared commitment to caring for others. From the earliest days at Sepe Buokrom, Mrs. Rita Boateng stood beside Dr. John Boateng, helping turn his vision into the hospital it is today.
Mrs. Rita Boateng’s contribution to Atasemanso Hospital began long before there were departments and teams to share the work. At the practice in Sepe Buokrom, she worked alongside her husband without drawing a salary, taking on accounting responsibilities and dispensing medicines while helping keep the practice running.
When they established Atasemanso Hospital in 2000, she continued to carry these responsibilities, adapting to the growing demands of the hospital until its development made it possible to employ additional staff. Her willingness to give her time, energy and care helped create the foundation on which the hospital grew.
Through every stage, she has remained beside Dr. Boateng. His determination to care for people was sustained by her own enduring commitment—a partnership essential to the hospital’s story.
Today, as Co-Founder and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Boateng represents that continuity of purpose. For her, Atasemanso Hospital is more than an institution: it is a lifetime of work, sacrifice and care, built together with her husband and carried forward with the next generation.
As Chief of Medical Staff, Dr. Ama Serwaah Boateng coordinates the medical team and supports clinical standards and continuity of care. She previously worked at 37 Military Hospital, KNUST Hospital and Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, and has served at Atasemanso Hospital for 13 years and counting. Alongside consultations, she works with nursing and diagnostic colleagues to coordinate investigations, treatment and follow-up.
